SPM Form 5 Mathematics_Chapter 03 Transformation III

Transformation chapter includes Translation, Enlargement and Rotation.

1. Translation
The video below let students understand about the basic of translation where students will learn how to move the coordinate or triangle with the use of translation format. Also, this video explains the meaning of T2. Anyway, students should always bear in mind that translation is JUST ABOUT MOVING WITHOUT rotating or resizing, thus every point of the shape must move in same distance and direction.

2. Enlargement
The video below is to let students learn about the basic skill in finding out the center point of enlargement and also the scale factor. Students should bear in mind that enlargement is a transformation which changes ONLY the size of an object and NOT the shape.

After the basic of enlargement, here comes something more challenging. In the video below, students will be exposed to different type of scale factors including positive, negative and even fraction. Students will be taught on how to find the center point of enlargement besides the area of image and object. Not to mention that it is important to write a full description in order to get full marks in the subquestion of this section.

3. Rotation
As for rotation, it means rotate/turning around at a given center thus the distance from the center to any point on the shape stays the same. Different students adapt to different learning method, therefore in this subsection, two methods are recorded in two videos below. Students can look into different way of solving the "Rotation" question.

Method 1
The method used here is somehow "creative" in finding a rotation point, some of the students may find this confusing, if so, please look into method 2.

Method 2
Students learn to find the rotation point using the "translation method" in this video. The idea come from the "base vector" method in IGSCE maths, which is easier to understand and apply. Although, this is not a proper method but it is an useful method in solving rotation.

Last video on rotation which expose more rotation examples to students. At the same time, students will also learn about finding center point with the use of compass. This video is important for students to fully understand about rotation.

Finally, one last video on transformation chapter  to let students learn to solve the transformation question and obtain 12 marks in Paper 2. =)

SPM Form 5 Mathematics_Chapter 02 Graph Functions II (Mandarin Version)

This chapter is mainly about the shape of graph function which includes linear, quadratic, cubic and reciprocal. A few examples are shown to introduce the shape of graph when y-intercept, C is available and not equal to zero. Students should be able to understand the relationship between the power and the shape of graph in this chapter. The video is recorded in Mandarin as it is the communication language used among most of my students. Sorry to others that do not understand mandarin, however, if you do not understand this chapter and would like to have an English version please let me know.

SPM Form 5 Mathematics_Chapter 01 Number Bases

The video below covers the basic of number base which includes teaching students to convert and calculate the number base questions with the use of calculator.

In order to enhance the understanding of students, below is another explanation video which includes examples in it.

SPM Form 4 Mathematics_Chapter 11 Lines and Planes in 3 - Dimensions

This video consists of 5 different examples which students usually faced in doing questions related to this chapter. Students should bear in mind that plane is a flat surface of an object, 2-dimensional shape is about length and breadth thus has only one plane, whereas 3-dimensional shape includes length, breadth and height thus giving more than one surface. As this chapter is about 3-D, students may need to imagine in order to find the angle in between and understand the "shadow line" concept (orthogonal projection in proper term).

SPM Form 4 Mathematics_Chapter 10 Angles of Elevation and Depression

It is important for student to decide which is the angle of elevation and which is the angle of depression. In this video, student will learn how to find the angle with the knowledge of 'tangent' in trigonometric. (Tan = Opposite/Adjacent)

SPM Form 4 Mathematics_Chapter 09 Trigonometry II

This video covered the basic of Trigonometry including, "sin" "cos" "tan" and the Pythagoras  Theorem which is useful in solving the Trigonometry questions. Students are also able to understand about the term "hypotenuse", "opposite" and "adjacent".

After the basics, here comes another video which a lot of experiment is done between the angle and trigonometry to let students have more ideas about the different quadrant and different sign.

To further enhance the understanding of students, the two videos below show the sin, cos and tan graph in standard form. Students will be exposed to different type of "tan graph" and learn how to sketch the graphs as well.

Firstly, Graph of Sin and Cos

Secondly, Graph of Tan

SPM Form 4 Mathematics_Chapter 08 Circle III

The video is about the Chapter 'Circle' including almost everything students required to understand about this chapter. 5 useful examples taken from the past year to enhance the understanding of students. In this chapter, it is important for the students to familiar with the law and formula of circle especially the meaning of tangent point.

Some of the small mistakes in the above video have been clarified and corrected in the video below.

Some of you might have forgotten about the basics taught during Form 3. Here is a small revision to refresh your memory =)

SPM Form 4 Mathematics_Chapter 06 Stastistic III

In this chapter, students should first know about the basic of statistics such as finding mid-point, cumulative frequency, upper boundary and mean. The video below also explain about the x and y-axis for histogram, frequency polygon and ogive. Some of the students might prefer to refresh their memory before go into this chapter. If so, click the word "revision" will lead you to the revision video that I have made.

Histogram and Ogive is usually covered in the Maths Paper 2. Thus, both of the videos below teaches step by step in constructing the Histogram and Ogive.

Firstly, Histogram.

Secondly, Ogive.

SPM Form 4 Mathematics_Chapter 05 The Straight Lines

A quick revision for students to recall what is about Straight Line. The video below will show the basic of straight line where students will learn about the gradient, y-intercept and the meaning of the equation y = mx + c.

Now that students have the basic concept towards Straight Line, I have prepared another two videos to enhance the understanding of students where students can try on the example and past year question.

SPM Form 4 Mathematics_Chapter 04 Mathematical Reasoning

Argument is one of the subsection in this chapter. There are 2 forms of Argument namely form 1 and form 2. Arguments consist of a collection of statements known as premises which leads to another statement known as the conclusion of the argument. To enhance the understanding of students, more than 10 examples have been used in this video.

The below video include another subsection of this chapter namely implication which will be included in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. In this section, students should know how to write the implications from a compound statement containing "if and only if" beside understand the construction of "if p, then q" and "p if and only if q".

SPM Form 4 Mathematics_Chapter 02 Quadratic Expressions and Equations

Students should bare in mind that the general form of the quadratic equation is ax2 + bx + c = 0 ;a≠0 and x= unknown. To form a quadratic expression, there should only consist one unknown and the power of the unknown should not be higher than 2. Students shall learn different way of factorization in this video.
